Echocardiogram

Echocardiogram & Heart Imaging | Advanced Health Associates

An echocardiogram is a safe, noninvasive test that uses ultrasound to provide detailed images of your heart’s structure and function. At Advanced Health Associates, our experienced cardiology team uses echocardiography to diagnose, monitor, and guide treatment for a variety of heart conditions. Call today or request an appointment online to schedule your echocardiogram.

What is an echocardiogram?

An echocardiogram (echo) is a diagnostic test that uses sound waves to create moving images of the heart. It allows your provider to evaluate the heart’s chambers, valves, wall motion, and blood flow, helping identify heart conditions such as heart failure, valve disease, or congenital heart defects.

Who may need an echocardiogram?

Echocardiography may be recommended for patients who:

  • Experience shortness of breath, chest pain, or palpitations

  • Have a history of heart disease or heart attack

  • Are being evaluated for heart murmurs or valve problems

  • Require monitoring of heart function due to high blood pressure or other conditions

  • Need pre-surgical cardiac evaluation

The test provides essential information to guide accurate diagnosis and treatment.

How is an echocardiogram performed?

  • You lie on an examination table while a transducer (ultrasound probe) is placed on your chest
  • Gel is applied to improve sound wave transmission

  • The transducer sends sound waves into the heart and records the echoes to produce real-time images

  • The provider may use different types of echocardiograms:

    • Transthoracic echo (TTE): Standard noninvasive imaging from the chest

    • Transesophageal echo (TEE): Probe inserted into the esophagus for detailed views

    • Stress echo: Combines exercise or medication with echo to evaluate heart function under stress

Most echocardiograms are painless, quick, and require no special preparation.

What are the benefits of an echocardiogram?

  • Provides detailed images of heart structure and function

  • Helps diagnose heart disease early for timely treatment

  • Monitors heart conditions over time

  • Noninvasive and safe with no radiation exposure

  • Guides treatment decisions for medications, procedures, or surgery

At Advanced Health Associates, we provide expert echocardiogram services to help detect, monitor, and manage heart conditions effectively. Call the office today or request an appointment online to schedule your echocardiogram.
